Hey Sand Stars

Winter is here in the northern hemisphere and I, for one, am SUPER happy; Dubai summers are intense, people! However, although I’m a lover of classic black and dark shades (especially for winter), I am starting to move towards more colour in my wardrobe. The latter could have something to do with a girlfriend insisting: ‘PLEASE wear more colour!’ ๐Ÿ˜‰

Momma Littlepianodiva purchased this gorgeous powder-blue, floral coat with three-quarter sleeves and funky little daisy and rhinestone buttons. I stole it for the day, as I was inspired by the clarity of the Dubai winter sky! (What she doesn’t know won’t hurt her, so shhh!)

I’ve always been driven by my associations with seasons, i.e.: florals for spring; bright, tropical shades for summer, etc. I thought it would be fun to go against my own grain a bit and get with the flower power as the days and nights become cooler.

Check out the runway inspirations below, especially for those of you living in colder climes: perhaps inject florals into a a scarf over your coat a la Burberry Prorsum F/W 2014-2015. If you live in a more moderate climate, like I do, go for pseudo-summer dresses or knee-length, tailored coats that double as dresses, like those seen at Dolce & Gabbana F/W 2014-2015.

Florals don’t have to be soft either; you can go for graphic, botanical prints or prints in olive, navy and black shades, too.

Either way, put an earthy spin on your winter wardrobe!
