Hey Sand Stars,
Everyone knows that I love fashion and move pretty much to my own fashion drum. I believe that fashion is meant to be fun- it isn’t curing the ails of the world but simply allowing people to express themselves through the wonders of movement, prints and textures.
I follow fashion trends, however I am not a slave to what is deemed to be ‘in’. Rather, I dress for my personality and body-type. A few key tips for dressing:
1) Feel good from the inside.
2) Smile. 🙂
3) Don’t show too much skin.
4) Find inspiration from everywhere; not just celebrities or fashion brands.
5) Accessories and sunglasses can up the ante of a simple outfit.
I look to pop culture, current events, my own experiences or my environment when it comes to my main fashion influences. As I have ancestral heritage from Turkey (of which I’m very proud), my Zara purchase below was inspired by all things ‘Ottoman warrior’. The key is not to look too costume-y when channelling an emotion through what you’re wearing; i.e. your ensemble should have one focal point or else you’ll be louder than a rock concert!
You don’t need to spend loads of money on your looks either; the high street has some amazing high-end-inspired pieces that will last you for seasons! Try Zara, TopShop and Forever21 for funky separates.
Today, you may be inspired by your ice-cream; tomorrow by your favourite rock song and it’s fun to bring out different aspects of yourself with fashion, but remember not to lose your character in your clothes.
You’re special and unique and NOT meant to follow the fashion herd!
